SPEAKER 1: News and find out in their 63rd season.
SPEAKER 1: I'm guessing most people know that, by now tops will have some, tops, instant and tops.
SPEAKER 1: Now, cards pertaining to the outcome of the World Series, some guys that, kind of made themselves more known, with their play during the postseason, including the World Series, Evan Carter Young, 21 year old, from, from Texas, analyst Garcia, who I think we all were waiting for sort of the come back to earth or flash in the pan, but he continues, to hit and Corey Seager wins his second World Series MVP award and is slowly or not slowly becoming one of the best shortstops, in the major leagues.
SPEAKER 1: And, the only one currently who has two World Series mvps, for the Diamondbacks very young team. I have a feeling, we'll be talking about them, in, in the future, Corman Carroll Gabriel Marino and the rest of those young gunners, will be probably postseason bowed, for years to come.
SPEAKER 1: So, exciting young teams here. I know the ratings weren't as great, but I was glad to see these two teams, other than the Mets, being there, and glad that Texas has got its first ever championship in, in baseball and, so kudos to them. So inil signings on two fronts.
SPEAKER 1: Panini has signed two time all-American volleyball player, Lexi Rodriguez to an ninil deal and Leaf has signed 1/10 grade football player, a sophomore in high school, by the highly regarded one at that quarterback prospect, Juju Lewis out of Georgia who has already committed to play quarterback for us c for the class of 2026.
SPEAKER 1: So they will have base cards on demand for 999 and look for future Autos to come.
SPEAKER 6: Soon I love Mickey who, you know who the ballot with the Salle rate its wing.
SPEAKER 6: I make you know who the one who drives me batty every spring.
SPEAKER 1: As will be the main topic on this show here in a minute or two. Rally the fractional company that does more than sports related items.
SPEAKER 1: Has acquired the Mantle home and made it part of their offering. 47,000 shares will be sold at seven dollars apiece. The home is the estimated value 329 K. Shareholders will get votes in future of the home and property. A barn is included with the sale and I took advantage of this offering and that's what I'll be talking about here like I said in a minute or two on our feature part of the show.
SPEAKER 1: So stay tuned. For that you are a music or rock fan. You might recognize the intro to Tom Sawyer by the Band Rush and their front man, Getty Lee, which you may not know and I sure didn't until reading this article, Getty Lee is quite the baseball memorabilia collector has been since the 19 seventies.
SPEAKER 1: Well, you me and everyone else will get a chance to own some of his collection that he's put on the auction block in a Christie's And Hunt, kind of collaboration they have acquired or will be listing some of Getty Lee's famous inventory including in 1917 white sox ball signed by a guy you might have heard of Shoeless Joe Jackson in 1942 Le Negro League, Sign Ball, which includes signatures from Josh Gibson Satchel page and many others.
SPEAKER 1: Another really cool item. A Beatles Ball signed from their performance at Chase Stadium when they came to the States, a lot of Presidential balls autographed including some that were first pitches as well. So, this auction starts on December 6th and a preview is available on Christie's auctions website.
SPEAKER 1: Now, our feature presentation.
SPEAKER 1: All right guys, I am me a little bit of Clickbait with the title there that I bought the Mantel House. But it's not a lie I bought into the Mantle childhood home where he learned to play baseball and became the future superstar that we know him as today. Rest in peace. And so we're gonna talk a little bit of how this all happened, what it entails what it means, why I did.
SPEAKER 1: So and you know, keep it real. It's, it's, it's, it's fun, right? It's fun to do some stuff and not for everyone. Right? Different strokes for, for different folks as they say, but so on. Rally similar to collectible but even more so that they offer things other than high-end cards. They offer, they do purses and watches and handbags and, all sorts of, of other stuff.
SPEAKER 1: I do own a couple shares of other things. So I got an email, giving me early access to buy into the Mantle House in Commerce. Oklahoma. The address to be exact is 319 South Quincy Street Commerce, Oklahoma. 743 39.
SPEAKER 1: And, they had pictures. It includes, land and a barn and, a lot of it looks as if it's been maintained, with a lot of the original stuff it looks like from when he grew up there.
SPEAKER 1: It's a, 9599 square feet includes the original barn. It's evaluated at 329 $1000. They're selling shares at seven bucks, a piece.
SPEAKER 1: I think being early offered, I didn't see any sort of limit, although I did only buy a certain amount. There's 47,000 shares that will exist when everyone has bought.
SPEAKER 1: And one of the cool things about the buy in is if you own, I believe even just one share, you get to vote on any of what you know, happens to the, the home and the property in the future to talk of making it a museum or expanding the, you know, the museum and that sort of thing.
SPEAKER 1: Let me give you a little bit of the timeline of the house too as, as we get started here, diving into this subject, Mickey himself was born in Spaven Oklahoma. He was named after Mickey Cochrane. His dad's favorite player, His dad was Elvin Mutt Mantle.
SPEAKER 1: So Mickey was born in October of 1931 and in January at 35 as a four year old, the Mantle family moved to Commerce Oklahoma so that his dad could work in the zinc mines which populate the area in the northeast part of the state. So at four Mickey moved to this house and lived there growing up all through his high school career in 1948.
SPEAKER 1: He joined the Baxter Springs Woods kids, the Kansas base semi pro team 12 miles northeast of Commerce Oklahoma. In 1949 he graduated from high school and on the same night he graduated the Commerce Com Comet as he was called, was signed by Yankees scout Tom Greenway. On the night he was signed, Mantle hit two home runs and two singles and had four hits that night. And the rest as we know is history.
SPEAKER 1: So this is a house he lived in for about doing some math about 14 years and during the most important crucial times of his baseball maturity. So now we have that sort of you know, kind of things squared away again, I was initial offered an early offering and at seven bucks a share, I just thought it's a cool thing to be a part of. And so guess how many shares I bought at $7 a piece?
SPEAKER 1: Seven, that's right. Seven shares of Mickey Mantle Childhood Home stocks or yes, sh not stocks but seven shares. So $49 in tax and I have seven shares, obviously, we know that is number seven. So there's a little bit tongue in cheek there, but it's kind of cool to be on a small, small part of history. Never been there.
SPEAKER 1: Probably never, I don't wanna say never, but most likely won't, won't get there but have sort of, you know, a say into the future of the property. And, and, you know, Mickey Mantle is, is synonymous with baseball hall of Fame. Flawed in, in his own way. But you know, one of the things he did in the last years of his life was used his story as an example and, and an outreach type of deal.
SPEAKER 1: And so kudos for that. So, I, you know, reasons I bought, I'm, I'm under no pretense. It's not like I think these are gonna, you know, I'm gonna buy at seven and they're gonna be worth 200 bucks each. I don't have any sort of, you know, I spent 49 bucks, you know, not a, you know, 49 bucks is 49 bucks but not a huge chunk of change in the grand scheme of things.
SPEAKER 1: Slightly more than what it cost me to fill my, my gas, tank and just kind of fun to say, right? And having a little fun on Social Media, you know, saying, hey, I own a small small percentage, you know, seven shares out of 47,000 shares to be exact, but there's seven shares nonetheless, and it's funny when I posted what I had done a lot of people like, hey, I, I see it offered but it's not live yet.
SPEAKER 1: How, how did you buy some already? And so I'm guessing they offered people who have already done business with on rally early, an early IP O so that's what I acted on. I believe it's live now. I don't I really have to follow up and see if the, if all the shares are sold and, and that sort of thing.
SPEAKER 1: But just cool to, to do that. I've done fractional before obviously with on rally collectible, not a ton. I don't, I don't, I'm not diving headfirst. Matter of fact, with my collectible stuff I, I sold all my holdings there. That's a show in itself.
SPEAKER 1: But so, you know, so it's kind of kind of cool, like I said, I don't own a lot of fractional anymore, but I did add this one to the arsenal just as almost as a conversational piece. And, you know, we'll see where it goes, we'll see what kind of input I'm asked for. If, if any, as a shareholder, I, I'll kind of update anything that changes, with this transaction.
SPEAKER 1: But, you know, I don't know the whole house as sort of my title, sort of, tongue in cheek, does, but I thought it'd be, but we thought it'd be a funny play on words. So, you, you know, you're listening to part owner of the Mickey Mantle Boyhood Home and I say that as you probably heard there with, with a chuckle. So that'd be a fun story to talk about on today's Hobby Quick. Its again, Hobby Quick.
SPEAKER 1: It's a quicker show so we can dive in and dive out. So, that's gonna do it for the today's episode if you have any questions pertaining to this or the transaction. Let me know. All right.
