I'm Danny black and that's John Newman as you just heard and I want to thank
0:24
you for joining us for uh episode five uh we got such a great response last
0:30
time so just wanted to thank everybody who reached out I really appreciate the positive uh positive words uh today we
0:37
want to thank uh waxat first of all our sponsors uh center stage and SGC so
0:43
thank you to all of you for your support uh through the first four episodes in our fifth episode
0:49
um and I want to talk about today's topic John and I were talking you know it's fun to flex in this industry and uh
0:56
you know who doesn't like having cool cards and who doesn't like buying you know Hall of Fame players and
1:03
I think we all want to think that we found something or discovered a player
1:09
or got in early or you know something that you know we fall in love with somebody and we want to get a lot of it
1:14
but let's be honest sometimes we swing and Miss sometimes we buy Cards and you
1:20
know what's up Dylan hi double d uh and I'm going to turn this over to John
1:27
because both of us have swung and missed plenty and we're going to share some of our some of our favorites uh tonight how
1:33
you doing John good good I'm I'm hearing warm and sunny Syracuse uh 9 is 18. uh and outside and
1:44
uh snowy and and super windy and so uh treacherous out there so uh uh glad to
1:50
be inside glad to be here is your house heated
1:57
it is but I like to dress the part yeah okay I wear you ever heard the
2:03
expression you wear your emotions on your sleeves you're you're wearing 35 below windshield on your uh yeah I'm
2:09
wearing the weather so yes you know
2:14
um yeah you know every you know you watch hobby content you follow people in the
2:20
hobby on social media right you tend to see everybody's oh I got a great deal
2:26
check this card and that's great and we all do that but rarely do you does someone talk about when they took one on
2:34
the chin right and got knocked out in the first round they just talk about uh The Knockouts they had and not the not
2:41
the losses so you know we talk a lot off the air and so we we said let's do a show hey where we we bring a human
2:48
element right we we don't always get it we don't always get it right and uh so
2:54
I'm gonna I'm gonna I'll go first I guess and uh I think the first the only
2:59
reason the only reason you're going first is you took like the Mount Rushmore of this category if if this
3:06
category had a Jerry West logo uh of cards that people wanted to invest in
3:12
and and maybe didn't get a good return on uh that this would be the the logo so
3:18
so you got to start with uh with with this one yeah I'm a New York City kid
3:23
I'm a Mets fan and this guy was going to be the next coming of Pete Rose uh you
3:31
know you name you name the All-Star and and it was in the same sentence uh as as
3:38
him and uh uh to have in my garage I've got three binders of this player all
3:45
rookie cards front and and you know the nine pocket sheets they're double they're double stuff so there's cards on
3:51
the front and back and I and you know these baseball binders get they're this thick that's three binders there's oh I
3:58
know there's at least a thousand rookies of this guy and uh of of this one player
4:05
yep one guy and you know to this day I know he didn't have the career uh where
4:11
I'm teasing everyone here kind of dragging us out I know to this day didn't have the career that you know
4:18
many thought myself included I still love them I still love them I actually had a conversation with them on Twitter
4:25
recently I was hoping he followed the the show but he did it I still love him
4:31
even that was all that being said uh besides and it's the like you said it probably is the poster boy and so it's
4:38
uh this guy you all you have to do is see this card well I'm gonna get Jeffrey
4:44
that's the great Jefferson this one signed this one is actually signed I'm gonna put the overlay on real quick so
4:50
uh people can just see uh real quick if you're watching on YouTube this is
4:57
the 89 tops Future Stars don't forget the Future Stars which was the greatest
5:02
part Greg Jeffries because we all knew including tops that he was a future star
5:08
and that is a psa9 because somebody had to have that graded and that's a new
5:14
label that's my favorite part so this is somebody who didn't get a graded
5:19
originally somebody not me I I just wanted to spell the rumors that I did
5:24
this I I might have a thousand of this card but this particular card on screen is not mine
5:30
so uh all right so let's do another one you gotta have the upper deck star rookie autographed so show us how far
5:38
down this Wormhole you went and and what what Greg Jeffrey's collection super collection is not
5:44
complete with an autographed ball right yep great job
5:51
yeah man this guy he's swinging the bat underwater he he
5:57
comes out he comes out strong uh at some early playoff success just a really good
6:03
dude you know kind of a shorter guy just but hard nose plays hard and uh as a
6:09
Mets guy man I was all in I I love this guy I caught this will tell you something Danny I'm I'm gonna put put
6:17
myself right out there I don't cut newspaper articles out right I'm not that guy yeah I cut anything that has
6:25
the suffering you've got you've got your own pressed clippings yeah but I don't like they're in a book
6:32
they're in like a folder somewhere but I cut the Greg Jeffries I cut the Greg
6:37
Jeffrey stuff out like I had so forget forget the three binders front and back of rookies I had another book that had
6:46
all the the newspaper articles interviews
6:51
um and I played around this time I was playing High School baseball too so you
6:57
know I was kind of I I remember I was in I was in my high school pool with a with
7:03
a with a metal bat swinging underwater and the swim this the the swim coach
7:09
came in and said what are you doing I'm like I'm training like get out of there with a bat
7:15
some crazy man I'm sure yeah but that's I was you know if I had
7:21
a if I had a man crush for a current player at the time current player yeah
7:27
it was Jeffrey's and I had the three binders of rookies I still have them so
7:33
you know I cleaned out my garage a couple years ago and my wife said you got a lot of cards that you probably
7:39
don't want can you go in there and see what you can get rid of and I got rid of
7:44
a good amount of stuff but guess what's still in that on the Shelf there those three thousand a thousand gray Jeffries
7:51
rookies uh more than a thousand I I couldn't I didn't have the heart to do it man it's still a part of me at what
7:58
point did you say you know what I have 300 rookies not nearly enough
8:07
this guy's still not hitting well let's get more well he did hit well he just got hurt
8:13
like he uh he always hit pretty till the end the injuries kind of took their toe and and obviously his last few years it
8:20
became a journey man he played on three or four different teams and and that was you know even when he left the Mets
8:28
uh and he got traded which was a sad day let me tell you something I didn't cry but the tears were on the edge
8:35
uh I still love them man like the team traded him he didn't sign in free agency
8:41
they traded him to the Royals so I'm you know I'm not embarrassed I'm I'm
8:47
an honest guy I'm a genuine guy I'm gonna put the Greg Jeffrey's stuff uh
8:53
out there and uh yeah he he's my biggest here's the crazy thing he's probably my
8:58
biggest swinger Miss Danny and and I'm not crushed about it like I still
9:04
have the stuff and it is that you have an emotional connection to Grant like I like we part for this show and I didn't
9:11
realize the depth of the emotional connection you have with Grant Jeffries
9:20
minor league stuff anything he appeared on I I probably had I if you remember
9:26
broders the the fugazi cards back in the day I even got Broder Greg Jeffries uh
9:33
I've met him I've I've met him during his I met him in the minors when uh I I went
9:39
to games and he was he hadn't been called up yet so I followed him very early on and got autographed did you
9:46
walk around in a bathing suit swinging the bat underwater when you when you followed him
9:55
you know no but uh here's the other thing I had I had a Greg Jeffries
10:01
and I bought it I don't remember what I paid I had a Greg Jeffries game use bet
10:06
on crap so it was still I don't know if someone's snuck it out of the locker room but I bought someone someone who
10:14
knew I was a huge fan you're like John I I can get a a bat on crack you want
10:20
them like you better believe I want it I don't have that anymore I will say that's the one thing I did sell and I I
10:27
sold it probably for a couple hundred bucks uh you know so well I'm gonna move
10:34
on from Greg if you're emotionally comfortable with that I feel a little sad now like we should have done a whole
10:39
episode on Greg you move you're gonna move on from Greg I'm gonna stay right here you evidently have not moved on
10:45
from Greg and it doesn't appear no I I I I I I I I just I don't know it's weird if you ask me why I couldn't give you
10:52
like like a real set answer just something just gravitated to him
10:58
it just looks like a ball player man yeah this card means something to you it does
11:04
oh I will give you that all right so from Greg Jeffries your second choice
11:10
was interesting because it's it's a slightly more modern player he's still playing he's still playing
11:16
but he's not lived up to the hype in the building that he sort of you know kind
11:22
of came in with and I'm sorry if you're in the chat and you have any names of people you've bought please throw them
11:28
out there yeah I'm curious if we have similar ones or different ones but my next guy he's
11:34
still in he's still in the you know he's still in the majors he kind of gets called up and down uh with with the
11:41
Anaheim uh Angels or LA Angels now um and it's Joe Adele I've got like an
11:47
800 count box over there of all like first Bowman's some autograph stuff I
11:54
was a I was a big believer in in this guy uh when when I was reading Scotty reports listening to minor league
12:01
podcast I bought in I said this guy's gonna be the next guy in the big leagues
12:07
that's going to be a superstar and an All-Star every year gonna hit 30 40 home
12:13
runs a year steal some bags make some plays uh you know in the Outfield with
12:20
his glove and so far it's been not the case right I've been struggling and he
12:25
looks right now kind of like a you know just a utility a utility man that can
12:32
maybe pinch it he gets sent down he gets called up he probably needs definitely
12:37
need to change his scenery maybe to have a shot somewhere else and kind of shake
12:42
the cobwebs if you will uh you know someone will say well John he's only 27
12:48
28 years old he you can't close the book fully and you're proud you you're not
12:53
incorrect but he's had numerous chances I think there's still I think there is
13:00
still a chance um
13:07
let's be honest um I once bought 800 1990 tops Jeff
13:15
ballards for 16. remember him Jeff Ballard was a left-handed pitcher and he won 18 games for the Orioles in 89 I
13:23
believe so that would have been a fantastic purchase uh actually Roy Hopps
13:28
29 send some of those over to me I I loved it might be in the burn power I I know I
13:36
mean I haven't learned from any of this uh my downfall double d uh Dylan says my downfall was buying too much wax
13:42
otherwise I have only ever bought vintage singles except for a few randoms and this year was some trouts well then
13:51
you have learned much better uh Dylan than we have um because I am not that good
13:58
uh yeah and you really think Joey has done I mean do you really seriously all
14:03
kidding aside I think Joe Adele's done listen I hope not but I've watched enough of them and followed him
14:08
obviously when you have an 800 count box of Bowman's Bowman crumbs Autos what's up
14:15
you're gonna follow them and um you know uh
14:21
I I'm hoping I'm hoping that you know the book is not closed but the body of work is not showing he's striking out I
14:28
think at like a a 40 45 clip it's a high percentage it's it's
14:34
it's a high it's a high strikeout rate where unless you're hitting a home run the other 50 of the time you're not
14:41
going to be in the league very long and he's not really hitting a lot of the home runs either so he's he's not making
14:48
contact not putting balls in play and he's not hitting the home runs as he was projected to when you put those two
14:54
things together Danny as you know that's a recipe for not in the majors very long
15:00
right uh so I'm I'm gonna give jodelle slightly more of a break than you are
15:06
but I'm also holding out on Luis Robert and you know probably a lot of other
15:12
guys I shouldn't hold on to um but yeah I I always rabbits
15:20
he's playing good when I'm healthy I'm playing good and I haven't been healthy in 30 years so uh
15:27
all right um now I know you had a much bigger list a couple other names you want to throw
15:33
out quickly don't talk about it another guy another guy that I have a lot of
15:39
stuff like over there kind of like it's taunting me over there on the Shelf
15:44
um this guy you can I think you can close the book on he's I think he's on his fourth or fifth team now he when he
15:52
gets when he plays he's batting under 200 uh I thought he was going to be the next great catcher in the major leagues
15:59
uh and that was uh Francisco Mejia who was came up with you know was an
16:04
Indian's Prospect and now has played for I don't know four or five teams he's
16:09
doing the tour uh where he's gonna play for half the existing teams and just
16:14
can't put it together um disappointing you know and now there's another catcher I'm not
16:21
investing always on my Mets name Francisco uh that's supposed to be the
16:27
next great catcher his last named Alvarez but I'm not you got catchers and
16:32
pictures you got to be careful about and I know we're going to segue into your two you're going to break the rule that
16:41
I make for myself which is don't buy a lot of pictures uh if you if you can
16:46
avoid it so you just said one of the rules that I learned a long time ago and these are
16:52
two of the players that helped me learn the world I didn't believe in the rule and when Todd Van Popple uh was coming
16:59
up and his cards were coming out um and and here is the upper deck van Papa rookie let me tell you something I
17:07
own more Todd Van Popple than I predicted um I had Todd Van Popple I had Todd Van
17:12
Popple in every version you can imagine in every condition in every grade I mean
17:18
well this was so this was pretty most of the grading but every condition you can have raw and I I I
17:25
must have I was a dealer at the time I must have gone to every single show with
17:31
50 to 100 van Popples in my case um I I absolutely was enthralled with
17:36
him so uh unfortunately he had a long career um love his donor's card absolutely uh
17:44
he he had a lot longer career Than People realize but I think it's safe to say he did not live up to the hype
17:51
um and that and that's the swing and Miss for me um you know it he very nice career in
17:57
fact Matt Wieters is another one I thought about putting up here um that was a swing and Miss but you
18:02
know a solid career uh Ben McDonald that's right up your alley Danny from Baltimore I know Ben McDonald another
18:10
guy who had a longer career than you realize but never never lived up to to the hype I mean he had a couple really
18:16
nice seasons though yeah like Dominic straight a lot of strike breakouts like he he was on the he was on the the you
18:24
know quick pass and then it just uh just didn't pan out you know well he's now a
18:31
broadcaster and as he says back then they didn't worry about next year's shoulder they worried about today's game so you know I I I I understand that and
18:40
he threw hard I remember him in college here with LSU that's true absolutely and he had all
18:46
the pictures I mean he was he wasn't just fastball uh however other guys don't make it for
18:52
different reasons and if you're young and you're drafted high and you're drafted by the Yankees and you end up in
18:58
a bar and a fight breaks out you know you don't do Brian Taylor you don't join the bar
19:05
fight uh Brian Taylor and I know he was defending a relative or whatever the
19:10
story was but his career ended before it really got off the ground and he was he
19:16
was supposed to be the next great High School arm I mean he he had an arm that
19:23
was just touched from above and he was in New York I mean talk about a Marketplace you know to to have his
19:30
stuff um and never never got anything out of it it hurt his arm in the fight it was
19:36
just never the same picture again um I think I'm correct in saying he never made the majors uh no I I don't
19:42
believe he did and you you know you look at that card I remember uh I had my
19:48
store I would I had my store when this card uh you know came out when it was
19:53
live and uh as I made a lot of sales of that card at a very high uh price and
20:00
that was the card that a lot of people thought that kids were they were going to pay for their kids college fund with
20:07
by stocking up on those and when that bar fight sort of doomed them there was
20:13
a lot of disappointment uh not just on on in the Yankees organization with
20:19
himself but a lot of people sit in the on a lot of Brian Taylor cards and he he
20:26
was taught even before he was like he obviously never made the big leagues but he was talked about like he you know
20:33
you talk about can't miss right people were just like he's gonna be the guy like it's no doubt and that really is
20:40
what fueled that's what fueled the card sales you hear no doubt this guy is is
20:45
Bob Gibson you know I've heard him compared at the time to Bob Gibson dominating type of stuff and
20:54
um you know and it was New York don't understand yeah sure yeah and you had the Yankees and
21:01
you know say we're kind of making you know being tongue-in-cheek about it but uh you know there's the human element
21:08
too right like that you know this is probably was his dream and um one
21:13
incident sort of ended it in a Flash I hate to say it like that but and that's
21:18
that's crazy and I guess there's the lesson too Danny to be careful who you go all in on right and and you you did
21:26
you used two pictures uh that's a rule I have but I will break my own Rule and
21:31
I'll if I can talk about that real quick I've got a shoe box I've got a shoe box over there and one side is filled with
21:39
all hunter green rookies and the other side is filled with all Kristen McKenzie
21:44
rookies now they're both actually doing fairly well right now so that's good but
21:51
that that could change just like with Brian Taylor right that could change you know hunter green actually struggled
21:57
where he was walking people couldn't find the plate he kind of you worked with some some pitching coaches and and
22:03
straighten that out but and what's what he doesn't revert back right John
22:09
normally we save this until later when we give our opinions on football picks but after hearing your theory and what
22:16
you just described welcome to the failure segment where John and Danny share their picks sure to go wrong
22:26
I don't care what John says don't invest in pictures I'm holding out hope I'm
22:31
holding out hope my break my bad luck streak will break with Mackenzie and
22:36
hunter green so you're you're a hopeless romantic and uh I'm gonna get uh Greg Jeffries to uh I
22:44
wonder if he does Cameo I can get him a cameo a message probably 10 bucks
22:51
just a little more than what his rookie card costs what's going on so houses we're talking
22:58
about a biggest swing and missed cards that we've had In Our Lifetime somebody
23:03
uh tweeted me earlier today a great name Kevin Moss uh another Yankee why is it
23:09
always the Yankees is it the the Yankee Market that builds them up well that's a tough place the lights are hot the
23:17
lights are hot in New York right and that's pinstripe right I never bought I will say this I don't know about you but
23:24
I sort of avoided the Kevin Moss Pratt fall I just I wasn't a Believer I I I
23:30
kind of saw that one year where it was hitting home runs left and right as just
23:35
an anomaly I said this guy's not legit he's just catching lightning in the bottle and anytime I pulled Hamas out of
23:43
a pack it I was selling that I that one I'm gonna that one I'm gonna take the W on because I didn't keep any of those
23:51
unlike the the other gentlemen we're we're talking about so I was I was
23:56
moving masses as fast as as I could pull them and you know people forget he had a
24:03
brother that was a player too Jason Moss so if you thought Kevin Moss didn't turn
24:09
out well just see Jason was Jason was Jason Hamas also
24:14
yeah yeah so what's hit or Moss he was a must and uh
24:22
I will say this though he had a pretty good career like I you know he's not a
24:29
Hall of Fame if you bought a lot of cards though yeah yeah you're right yeah but he
24:34
wasn't like he was better than Joe Adele's on track to be I'll give I'll give Alvin Davis
24:41
that much you know what I mean so well I'll admit that I uh bought a lot of
24:48
Ryan Miner if that name rings a bell to anybody Ryan was a basketball player I
24:55
believe in Oklahoma um and played baseball so he was a dual sport athlete guy was about six five
25:01
power hitting third baseman and uh he was the one that was being groomed to
25:06
replace Cal and uh on the day that Cal uh was going to end the streak and sit down they
25:13
called Ryan Miner into the manager's office and said Ryan uh you're going to be starting in Third Base today Cal's
25:20
not going to play Ryan takes a deep breath looks at the manager goes does cow know
25:26
[Laughter] s if you ever Ryan minor story
25:33
um however his cards uh Ron kettled there's another guy he won Rookie of the
25:38
Year what 83 I believe and if you loaded up on his cards in 83 it was downhill from there yeah there was a time I
25:45
remembered like his cards were bringing pretty good bucks when you sold them but again he's still very active on social
25:52
media like he's a really good dude like if there was a hall of good dudes he'd
25:57
be in it he's not gonna get in the Hall of Fame but if there was a hall of good dudes Ron kiddo might be a first ballot
26:03
guy so absolutely Gabe Kepler here's another one yeah that dude you know what I
26:10
remember about Gabe Kepler like the giant like Popeye arms kind of like you
26:15
know coming out of his is I'm just gonna say he's a manager now obviously he
26:20
looks a lot smaller than he did during his playing days that's all I'm gonna say well I will also say my wife finds
26:27
him mildly attractive and and uh so we we we're not a big fan of Gabe Kepler
26:35
that's the other guy besides Jeffries that could be the logo for swinging the
26:40
miss you know there's so many if you want to go back though there's so many of them yeah you know yeah
26:47
um but these are great names did you and it's funny how you forget about some of these guys till someone
26:54
else brings them up like in the in the chat today which is great well the Jeff Dallas made me um remember Craig
27:01
Worthington who was a third baseman with the Orioles who was supposed to be you know the next great third baseman
27:08
um and in Baltimore that's saying a lot and and there's a reason nobody's heard of Craig Worthington
27:13
um but I bought all of them I was ready for all his cards he was going to be the next Brooks
27:19
but you want to pick a guy you want to but Steve Balboni he he hits a monster
27:24
home runs though like he he should work out a lot his cards were never worth anything no no not really but when he
27:31
hits a moonshots I remember watching you and like balls are still going somewhere or that they haven't landed I mean for
27:39
him it was he he was going to strike out or he's going to hit a home run he struck out most of the time uh you know
27:45
do we want to mention a guy like there's a guy I'm thinking about now now I don't have a lot of his stuff but everyone
27:51
loves them I think the Bloom's coming a little bit off the Rose now but I just it isn't going to work for him it's it's
27:58
O'Brien Hayes of the Pirates uh Charlie Hayes the Sun and and uh you know you
28:05
look at what numbers he's pulling putting up which is is not great they paid him big money uh in Pittsburgh and
28:12
all and then what does he do last year right he's guys are running around the bases and instead of covering his back
28:19
bag he's putting sunflower seeds in his mouth and so he's a guy that a lot of
28:26
people I know like and and put some money into and I just hope get out get
28:32
out I don't understand this again the newer the newer guys you're ready to whack in like four or five years but
28:38
great Jeffries you would still have start for them different error though man like people if we start this opening
28:45
day for the Mets
28:54
I think he's 53 54 years old right uh thankfully now listen if this was the
29:00
willpon Mets if this was the willpod Mets error they probably would have signed him real cheap and then made a
29:06
big announcement that's not going to happen thankfully in the Cohen error Universal DH
29:13
all right um I want to move on uh real quick thank uh some of our sponsors wackstat.com

29:47
I want to thank all our sponsors now I already uh played the warning music uh
29:53
to ignore our our picks as we talk a little Super Bowl here but uh real quick
29:59
I got it throughout this is a great name Jerome Walton with the Cubs
30:04
Walton cards uh I did have a I'm not gonna lie it's funny you forget about
30:10
these these yeah because it's 1989 I'm 89 Bowman remember the 89 Bowman's when
30:16
Bowman came back it was Griffey and Jerome I believe Jerome Walton was in I
30:22
think he was also a 90 Donruss cop it was yeah I'm not sure but I had a lot of
30:28
I wasn't necessarily buying him and stockpiling him I just seem to have always have a stack of Jerome Waltons
30:35
and he had a great start to his career you know and uh it just again didn't
30:41
didn't really uh didn't really uh pan out obviously so it's just that's why
30:47
it's it's scary to you know you got to be so careful when you go all in on someone because we look
30:54
at all the stories we talked and this guy's the list is way longer you know
30:59
Dan Ryan uh Carlos Rodan seven United Hills you know he's still a great player well
31:07
that's the whole point is sold it for seventy dollars uh probably could probably could do a lot better now
31:14
he was almost the met I read so well and David claude's but yeah didn't quite
31:20
make it there yeah a little before I was a kid or a very young kid but I do remember him he was I believe the number
31:28
one pick uh in the draft out of high school which at that time was not
31:33
necessarily very common and uh it's still he did play I mean he did make the
31:39
majors and have a career but I think he had control issues
31:45
um as and you know what as I found out tonight um you have control issues around Oreo
31:51
cookies and this bothers me that you don't like Oreo cookies so I would like to put that on your
31:58
swing and Miss list because you have swung and Miss on Oreo cookies not my favorite man I think the public needs to
32:05
know the public needs it I'll admit it that when I did eat them when I was a kid I did what like a lot of little kids
32:11
do right you separate the cookie and you you know with your teeth you take the
32:17
cream out and a lot of times I wouldn't even eat the cookie I would throw those away or someone else in my family would
32:23
would I'll eat I'll take it if you're not going to eat that I I don't know I just did not my favorite like will I eat
32:30
them if they're around and there's nothing else and it's a snack I'll have one or two sort of just to remind myself
32:36
why I'm not a big fan uh I just want everybody to know as you give advice and
32:42
we talk about these important issues the lens of which this information is coming from this is a man who will turn down a
32:49
double stuffed Oreo and we're about to tell you who to bet on for the Super Bowl so take take that for what it's
32:55
worth uh we already played the warning please do not actually pay attention to any of our picks uh we have no actual
33:02
talent or ability to know what's going to happen and have no guarantee that we can even log on correctly
33:08
so that being said uh as we talked today and this is going to be our last show
33:13
before the Super Bowl uh the spread seems to be holding almost a pickum here
33:18
uh Philadelphia minus one and a half for Kansas City plus one and a half however you want to look at it uh I think a lot
33:25
of that's going to do with the health of the quarterbacks how are you looking at the Super Bowl John
33:31
it's a great matchup right I mean you got a young up and coming quarterback and Jalen hurts right that's uh
33:39
surprising me I didn't think he was going to be uh this good and and then you got
33:44
arguably what I think is the next great quarterback in the NFL Brady you know we
33:49
talk about Brady just retiring like who does the torch get passed to it's I'm
33:55
sorry we have breaking news this is important Hebrew Keebler El fudge
34:00
cookies are one of my favorite uh one of my favorites and that's from Dr yes yes
34:05
yeah I like those
34:11
you can resume our show now I'm in I know uh you know we we talk
34:17
about who's the next guy after Brady right it's probably not going to be another Tom Brady uh in terms of all the
34:24
accolades and seven rings but I think the next guy is going to be uh Pat Mahomes I think he's going to have
34:30
multiple uh Super Bowl rings when it's all said and done and when I say multiple I'm not only talking two I'm
34:37
talking three four maybe even uh five just the place he makes he's he's one of
34:43
the greatest quarterbacks I've ever seen play now I know there's guys from years ago that I've never saw you know at the
34:51
time in live TV play but just sidearm falling down behind his back uh and just
35:00
uh it doesn't make a ton of mistakes and uh you know I I think he's the best you
35:06
know if there if the league was all redone and there was a draft a redraft and that no one was on any team I think
35:14
Patrick Mahomes is the number one pick in that draft and so I feel like it's
35:20
hard to pick against him I know he lost the Super Bowl the last time I believe you know he was he was in it two uh for
35:28
mentioned uh Tom Brady but uh I don't know I I think it's going to be a good
35:34
game uh Kansas City's the underdog here I'm gonna take him I'm gonna I'm gonna
35:40
take him uh and get a point and a half I'm not saying the Eagles can't win this
35:45
game but you got to pick someone right you can't I could say I'm not picking anyone but I'm gonna take the Chiefs uh
35:51
I think the the couple weeks to prepare for the game uh he's gonna get even healthier uh you know you watch the game
35:58
against the Bengals he was fairly mobile and moving around he had some runs if if
36:03
anybody can see that was my analysis I was about to give I just want to get that on the record
36:09
um the two the two-week Break um is is huge for my homes I agreed 100
36:15
and if Jalen hurts does have a shoulder injury I don't think that heals as much in two weeks
36:21
yeah I mean it's got I think it's gonna be a close I don't think it's gonna be a Super Bowl blowout much like the NFC
36:27
Championship was where the Eagles ran uh the fourth string quarterback uh of the
36:34
49ers out of the gym I don't think we see a game like that I hope we don't see a game like that those aren't really
36:40
that fun uh uh to to watch Annie read you know you can make all the jokes
36:45
about him you want but he's reading the menu card but the guy can coach football uh and he also can draw on players faces
36:53
as we as we learned in those those commercials so he's good at drawing plays and he's good at drawing mustaches
37:00
so uh yeah I agree with uh with Richard there
37:06
um I I kind of like the fact that it's the Andy Reed Bowl he got knocked so much with
37:11
McNabb for you know not not quite getting over the top and he's been ahead of the league offensively for years that
37:18
I I think you know getting that one Super Bowl was good but I I think he he's still got uh something in him that
37:24
wants to take out Philly I think Philly I was going to ask you that Danny do you think that playing your old team you
37:30
used to coach and obviously it's like different players those aren't his players when I take my actual girlfriend
37:37
out to dinner she pays every time now so I just was wondering is that
37:43
something is he going to get now listen if you ain't getting geared up because it's the Super Bowl alone but is there
37:49
going to be a little bit more on the line that it's his old team he used to coach uh I I I would think so I mean EG
37:57
is emotions right I don't think you hold anything back in a Super Bowl no matter what I think anything else to win uh is
38:04
gonna come out there so I'm actually going to take uh you know it's funny I've been on Philly all year but the
38:09
more I I've thought about it I think I like Kansas City um but this one could go either way I
38:15
reserve the right to change my mind check my Twitter feed five minutes before kickoff for my final answer we'll
38:21
see how healthy everybody is pregame yeah I think if Philly wins this game
38:26
Danny um it's going to be it's and they have a great defense they're gonna they're gonna need to come up big a turnover
38:34
Force more homes in their turn over someone else coughs the ball up they're gonna need some help on the defensive
38:41
side to to pull this game out uh I just think Kansas City you know is going to
38:48
score some points uh you know it I don't know what the over and under is but uh I
38:54
think it's going to be a decent I don't think it's gonna be a super high scoring game but I don't think it's going to be although it's going to be that that
39:01
average it's funny I didn't I didn't grab the over under because I think that's going to change more with the
39:06
quarterbacks yeah um I think I think the spread's gonna stay pretty close um but you know my bet on that is the as
39:14
the one who puts together that's all right but uh if you're listening to this on audio it is on there and John cannot
39:22
read it so uh just trust me I got it right um Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP I'll
39:29
catch you off guard I gotta go I I talked about him at nauseum uh I I think he's gonna be the
39:36
difference uh in this game so I I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna go with the Mahomes I think he's gonna I think when
39:43
again when his career is over he's gonna have a couple Super Bowl MVPs and he's gonna have multiple rings and I think it
39:49
you know he gets the second one uh with this Super Bowl and uh you know I I I'm
39:54
gonna go in my homes uh with a dark horse candidate uh watch out for Travis Kelsey
40:01
well I was going to take Travis Kelsey so um on my side of the screen
40:07
on my side of the screen it's not a surprise it's not a sleeper um no I I think that my homes is going
40:14
to be the easy choice but I I think they're going to give him a little bit of a hard time with that Philadelphia defense so I think Kelsey ends up
40:19
bailing him out a couple times I could also see somebody like a JuJu Smith Schuster catching uh one deep uh and
40:26
putting up some numbers Dan Ryan asked who has the stronger kicking game good
40:32
question I will say this it's not the Dallas Cowboys I will take anybody named Chris Jones
40:40
huge factor and a huge huge game breaker
40:45
uh exactly yep yep yeah he's one of the few reasons I think
40:51
Kansas City's defense stays in the game I will say this I think the Eagles
40:56
defense is better overall than the Chiefs defense you know going defensive
41:03
defense but I think Chris Jones is probably the best defensive player uh on the field right right there so uh he's
41:10
gonna be he was disruptive he had burrow going backwards uh you know all day uh
41:17
last week so uh that could be a big factor with Jalen hurts I'm sure that's going to be obviously the game plan
41:24
Chris Jones you know put uh put take Jalen hurts off his off his Mark right
41:29
get him moving or he doesn't want to be we're going to see if that shoulder is healthy pretty quick
41:36
yeah yeah so well all right go ahead well we we're uh about to wrap up here
41:43
uh we we went way over as we always do uh but I love the conversation uh this
41:50
was one of my favorite ones if you guys have any other names of any swing and Miss uh hitters uh or cards you've
41:56
bought please please DM us or you know put it in the chat in the comments
42:01
afterwards because I love hearing the names yeah it and it brings you back right and
42:07
it's funny when when Jerome Walton was mentioned I wasn't necessarily buying
42:12
your own one but it brought me back to I had quite a bit of cure on one probably still somewhere and probably my garage
42:19
there's a stack of Jerome's Waltons in in darkness there just sitting uh
42:24
collecting dust and uh you know and it's funny you forget about those guys until
42:30
someone else brings them up well maybe maybe it's appropriate we we finish uh
42:35
on that note for the outro so uh for another edition of card mentions uh
42:41
thanks for watching I'm Danny that's John have a good one I still love you Greg Jeffries
